We can play D&D on 4chan! Yay!

Post by Jerry »

Go to 4chan. Select the /tg/ board. Read the stickied comment.

They now have an online dice roller.

Yeah I was online last night when it went up.

Spam shitstorm doesn't even come close to describing the mess.
Moot banned anyone in the stickied thread that tested the dice function incorrectly, since all you have to do is put "dice (number)d(sides) +(modifier)" in the email field.
Tons of people were banned within minutes, then the function was removed for a while (it has since been restored).

That, and the person that rolled 9000d1.

We need a dice roller here too!!!

Incidentally, I'm going to use this as an opportunity to pimp Elliquiy out.

Elliquiy is a great message board for those who like play-by-post games. The community is good, but there are still plenty of arguments (for instance my hate-fuelled replies as I tried to convince people not to play 4E, but they won't listen).

It is specifically designed for adults, and so although adult content is by no means required, most of the games do feature it. It is pretty much divided into boards such as "No adult content", "Light - consensual sex", "Bondage", "Non-consensual" and "Extreme" (for those who thought "Two girls, one cup" was a classic art house production).

It can always do with more people. There are a bunch of D&D games there, and the ones that I run use Tome material. Others will often allow at least some Tome material.

If anyone is eighteen or older, and knows that there will be the chance of them seeing sexually oriented posts, and wants to join, please feel free to go to this address and join: Elliquiy - Adult Rated Roleplaying

I hope this isn't seen as spam. I don't exactly pimp it out everywhere, but it seemed to be a relevant place to mention it, thanks to "We can play D&D over here" and "Book of Erotic Fantasy".

We could really do with more people who agree with me, by the way.

It turns out that 2 Girls, 1 Cup is actually a preview for a much longer masterpiece from Brazil. Ninety minutes long or so I'm told.

You know, I'm so happy that I didn't even see the preview - that I found out what it was before ever watching such a thing. I can consider myself blessed just for that.

That has got to be the worst piece of information that I've ever learned.

funnyexamanswers is awesome. I read through it all in one sitting thanks to that link.

"Briefly define hard water."
"ice"

Note: that's what I'd have put, except I suppose if I was sitting that test I'd know the answer. But still be tempted to write that.

Well, let's see...If I remember my hydrology correctly, hard water is water that is especially loaded with minerals, which can actually build up in pipes and stuff. As well as give all sorts of taste options for the water.

And I know that y'all in Australia have it going on with hard water. My mineralogy professor repeatedly referenced the mineral wealth of Down Under and how a lot it of is due to supergene enrichment (means that the super-hot water dissolves stuff, then carries it up closer to surface where it leaves it behind in veins).

That's the only hard water I know of, anyway.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

In before someone bitches about 4chan being everything that is wrong with the Internet.

*wanders off to find out*
If you're going to be on a channel that supplies or is complicit a completely ridiculous amount of morally questionable pornography and whose members supply most of the content on encyclopediadramatica.com (one of the most hateful, negative places on the Internet) then at least don't try to weasel your way out of the disdain you rightly deserve.

People saying that D&D makes people murderers and satanists is untrue and wrong. People saying that D&D encourages people to spend a greater-than-normal amount of time fantasizing about murder, loot, and blasphemy (and because everyone loves hypocritical irony, these pretend-thugs also tend to be huge nerds) is much more provable.

When people make fun of people like me for the second reason I don't bitch and cry about the second reason. I man it up because it's just a hazard of D&D.

You're on a channel that encourages internet trolling and child pornography; these two things are indeed some of the darkest, sickest things about the Internet.

So take your licks or disown the channel, don't play it both ways.

In other words, constantly bringing up 4chan is like reminding people that you like to turn up your car stereo real loud and drive through neighborhoods while littering out your windows.

If you don't want people making fun of your hobby and bitching about people disrupting peaceful neighborhoods, it would be in your best interest not to bring up this activity at all. Ever. Just keep it to yourself.

I can only assume you're referring to, for instance, a board other than /tg/. Yes, dumb/funny memes bleed over across all boards, but the target of your hatred is pretty much constrained to /b/, as far as I can tell (and even then, back when I visited /b/ before cancer killed it, I seriously never saw any child pornography. For which I was grateful. It was only after no longer bothering with it that I hear people swearing to (deity) that it was so rife there).

/tg/ is like here, with more anime references, less understanding of game balance and a greater ability to find combinations that make the truly bizarre.

If you think it's really such a corrupt, degenerate place, then the burden of proof is on you. Because I previously found /b/ to be nowhere near as bad as reported, and /tg/ to be no worse, morally/ethically speaking, than here.

No burden of proof is required. The association is damning enough.

I take it back.

Clearly as demonstrated in their replies and non petulant revenge posts on other threads the 4 chan bitches are wonderfully nice posters who contribute meaningfully to discussion.

They certainly wouldn't have racked up thousands of posts each in a very short time placing them ahead of almost all regular veteran contributors that consist exclusively of trolling, insults, non sequesters and meaningless spam.

Oh and congratulations to Sigma999 now with the THIRD HIGHEST POST COUNT ON THIS FORUM. Remind me the single actual contribution in your twenty two hundred posts?

Why do you need to "contribute?" Is offering your opinions on this message board enough?

Okay PhoneLobster, I can think of 5 people here who have admitted to viewing and/or posting on 4chan, to varying degrees:

Me: Sure, I'm a racist, I'm self-absorbed and I have far too much time on my hands while job-seeking, so probably post too much. All I have to my name is pointing out the need to allow for online gaming when making games, and a number of Tome feats & weapons, as well as the multi-part monsters. It's not that much.

Sigma: Sure, you particularly hate Sigma. We get it. A number of people apparently find him a pain in the arse. Whatever. But that's hardly universal, so it could be just as much your problem as his.

Jerry: I know we all get to pick on the new guy - and he started off just making meaningless posts and acting like Captain Bleach, but he seems to have turned into an honest-to-goodness member of the Den.

Ceilingcat: Ceilingcat is awesome (and the reason I found the Den), so I won't hear a bad word said about that feline of attic-dwelling tendencies. Ceilingcat also contributed in the form of a number of classes, off the top of my head, though it's possible there's more.

Frank: Yeah, forgot that he's referenced it before, didn't you? His contributions to this board include 50% of the Tome series (assuming it's an even split with K), as well as a large number of other feats and classes. And general good advice.

---

Notice how there isn't really that much that we all have in common? So insult me for my own flaws - there are plenty of them - but not "because I post on /tg/".

True. It's just that new people generally take a little bit of adjustment, so they create the openings - and also tend to take a little while to realise they can retaliate as much as they like.
